The Norte Vista Braves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 54-19 loss at the hands of Walnut. While losing is never fun, Norte Vista can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 927th, while Walnut is ranked 353rd).
It was another big night for Maileeh Suasti, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals for Walnut. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Suasti has scored at least 25% of Walnut's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Lu, who scored seven points along with five steals.
Norte Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Walnut, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Norte Vista will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Arlington at 7:00 p.m. Walnut and Chino Hills will face off at 4:30 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Chino Hills is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
