This season hasn't been kind to the Shenango Wildcats, who are still winless after their fourth game. They had to suffer through a rough 67-27 loss at the hands of Ellwood City. Shenango has struggled against Ellwood City recently, as their match on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Ellwood City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Claire Noble led the charge by scoring 20 points. Noble continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Sturgeon, who scored 15 points.
Shenango has fallen quite a ways from their 25-5 record last season and are now at 0-4. As for Ellwood City, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shenango will take on New Brighton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Brighton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Ellwood City and Neshannock will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Neshannock is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
