The Corcoran Panthers will challenge the Woodlake Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Woodlake will be up against a hot Corcoran team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Panthers' pitchers stepped up to hand Strathmore an 18-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Cortez Portillo
04/22/25 @ Strathmore | 4 |
03/18/25 vs Golden Valley | 3 |
02/26/25 vs Avenal | 3 |
04/16/25 vs Coalinga | 2 |
04/08/25 @ Granite Hills | 2 |
Cortez Portillo was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brennan Botill, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Woodlake never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Summit Charter Collegiate Academy on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 22-13 margin over the Bears. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
David Flores made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Woodlake let Elias Lang and Thomas Leedy run wild. Lang went 3-for-6 with six RBI, two triples, and three runs, while Leedy went 4-for-6 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. Guillermo Rosales was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Woodlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.
Corcoran's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Woodlake, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Corcoran has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. However, it's not like Woodlake struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Corcoran couldn't quite finish off Woodlake in their previous meeting back in March and fell 7-5. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
