The Hanford West Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 52-38 bruising from Bakersfield Christian. While losing is never fun, Hanford West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 756th, while Bakersfield Christian is ranked 170th).
Bakersfield Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Riley Anwyl out in front who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals. Anwyl is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Bila, who scored eight points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Hanford West's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Bakersfield Christian, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-6.
Hanford West will be playing in front of their home fans against Sierra Pacific at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sierra Pacific will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Bakersfield Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Independence at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Independence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
