Baseball Recap: Public Safety Academy Wins Going Away Against Redlands Adventist Academy

After losing to Redlands Adventist Academy the last time they met, Public Safety Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Phoenix blew past the Bulldogs 15-5 on Friday. Considering the Phoenix have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Alex Barragan made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Public Safety Academy got a massive performance out of Sebastian Bogle, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Bogle has posted since back in April of 2024. Phillip Ruiz was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Public Safety Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Public Safety Academy and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Redlands Adventist Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Public Safety Academy will welcome Desert Mirage at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Redlands Adventist Academy will be paying especially close attention to the Phoenix's game: after the Phoenix faces off against the RAMS, they'll take on Redlands Adventist Academy again at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
