Softball Game Preview: Sigourney Savages vs. Iowa Valley Tigers

Sigourney has gone a perfect 10-0 against Iowa Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Savages will head out to challenge the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Iowa Valley took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sigourney, who comes in off a win.

Sigourney will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Belle Plaine on Friday. The Savages put the hurt on the Plainsmen with a sharp 10-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Savages in their matchups with the Plainsmen: they've now won four in a row.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Iowa Valley and B-G-M have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Tigers took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost three in a row.

Sigourney's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Iowa Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Sigourney skirted past Iowa Valley 2-1 when the teams last played on June 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Savages since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
