The St. Helena Saints are taking a road trip to square off against the Napa Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Helena will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
St. Helena had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Lick-Wilmerding on Thursday. Everything went St. Helena's way against Lick-Wilmerding as St. Helena made off with an 8-0 victory. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.
Huck Anderson looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Julian Earls was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Oli Harvey, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Napa came up short against Orland on Saturday, falling 10-2. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Napa saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Herbert, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
St. Helena's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Napa, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Helena has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Napa struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. Helena skirted past Napa 3-2 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Helena since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
