Panther Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Blue Mountain Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Panther Valley earned a 47-35 victory over Pine Grove. Given Panther Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Pine Grove is ranked 508th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Natalie Vermillion, who scored 15 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddison Maynard, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Blue Mountain entered their tilt with North Schuylkill with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Blue Mountain came out on top against North Schuylkill by a score of 33-26 on Thursday.
Panther Valley's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. As for Blue Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.
Panther Valley came up short against Blue Mountain when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 45-33. Can Panther Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
