If the Willow Glen Rams were feeling good off their 47-23 takedown of the Silver Creek Raiders last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Willow Glen was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 44-43 to Prospect. Willow Glen was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Prospect apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Willow Glen had strong showings from Natalia Valerio, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds, and Lucia Diaz, who scored 13 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Diaz, who scored two points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Sadie Slaughter continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Prospect, scoring 21 points. Slaughter has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kate Barstow, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Willow Glen now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Prospect, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Willow Glen will be playing at home against Santa Teresa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Prospect, they will head out on the road to take on Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Oak Grove: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Prospect has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
