Basketball Recap: Alpaugh Falls Despite Big Games from Rosalyn Perez and Alexa Sixtos

If Alpaugh was riding high fresh off their 47-20 takedown of Maricopa last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Alpaugh Buffalos wound up with the same score they had in their last game (47-20), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The loss continues a trend for them in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now lost three in a row.

Alpaugh's loss on Thursday came despite strong showings from Alexa Sixtos and Rosalyn Perez. Sixtos posted seven points along with eight boards and four steals, while Perez put up four points and seven rebounds. Sixtos is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Alpaugh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Alpaugh's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Avenal, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Alpaugh didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-30 loss against Orange Cove on the 20th. As for Avenal, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 31-21 defeat against Woodlake on the 20th.
