The Pacheco Panthers will take on the Hilmar Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Pacheco is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Pacheco fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Beyer on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1.
Aidan Pikas was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Pikas wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sam Honesto, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Hilmar got the win against Orestimba on Thursday by a conclusive 11-1. The victory continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won seven in a row.
Xavier Silveira spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Hilmar let Junior Solis and Jacob Sward run wild. Solis went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double, while Sward went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles Sward has posted since back in April of 2025. Nathan Ayala also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Hilmar now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Pacheco, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pacheco has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hilmar struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Pacheco suffered a grim 15-8 defeat to Hilmar when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
