After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bishop Amat, the Saint Joseph Jesters were happy to have found some success on Thursday. Everything went their way against Mary Star of the Sea as Saint Joseph made off with a 44-21 victory. Given Saint Joseph's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 480th, while Mary Star of the Sea is ranked 1061st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Saint Joseph found their leader in underclassman Olivia Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Martinez's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Hentges, who scored six points.
Saint Joseph's win bumped their record up to 10-5-1. As for Mary Star of the Sea, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
Saint Joseph will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Crossroads at 12:00 p.m. on January 13th. As for Mary Star of the Sea, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Los Angeles CES at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
