It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Crenshaw Cougars can now relate to. They took a hard 76-62 fall against the Patriots on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (60), Crenshaw still had to take the loss.
Leading Birmingham to victory were Devyn Berry and Samantha Velasquez. Berry scored 14 points along with five assists and two steals, while Velasquez scored 18 points along with three steals. Velasquez hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Natalie E. lopez, who scored seven points along with nine assists.
Crenshaw has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-9 record this season. As for Birmingham, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 22-6.
Crenshaw does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Birmingham, they will face off against King/Drew at TBD on Saturday. Birmingham has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 635 points over their last nine games.
