The Freedom Falcons will be playing at home against the Deer Valley Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Freedom and six for Deer Valley.
Freedom lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They suffered a rough 64-40 defeat at the hands of Heritage. Freedom has not had much luck with Heritage recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Freedom saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Eve Monzon, who scored 22 points, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 55% of Freedom's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariel De La O, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Freedom struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Heritage racked up 15 assists.
Meanwhile, Deer Valley was beaten by Liberty 77-27 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Deer Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 963rd, while Liberty is ranked 253rd).
Freedom has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Deer Valley, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-7.
Freedom beat Deer Valley 59-47 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does Freedom have another victory up their sleeve, or will Deer Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
