The California Grizzlies will square off against the Freedom Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (California 4, Freedom 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
California is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Washington get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. The Grizzlies haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Logan Kellogg was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Angelo Sherman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Freedom waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Gauchos. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since March 18th.
The result came thanks to Caleb Emmons's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Freedom is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Colton Vick, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Freedom's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-12. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for California, their win bumped their record up to 14-11.
California beat Freedom 5-1 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
