The Pacific Ridge Firebirds are taking a road trip to take on the High Tech SD Storm at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. High Tech SD took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Pacific Ridge, who comes in off a win.
Pacific Ridge will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Orange Glen, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Firebirds put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 10-1 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Firebirds, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Cal Chivers made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Pacific Ridge's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-8 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jed McDonald, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Pacific Ridge is 3-1 when McDonald posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Madden Lafleur was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, High Tech SD didn't have quite enough to beat Crawford on Thursday and fell 10-8.
Nano Acevedo and Zach Fletcher stepped up to the plate in a big way. Acevedo went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Fletcher went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Acevedo has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Rubio, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
High Tech SD has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Pacific Ridge, their record is now 7-8.
