Hay Springs walked away with a 52-44 victory over Edgemont on Saturday. That's another feather in the cap for Hay Springs, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Hay Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julia Russell led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds. Russell is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mya Turman, who scored 15 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, Edgemont saw an underclassman step up: Raelee Provorse went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 2 assists. That's the first time this season that Provorse scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Hollenbeck, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Hay Springs has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Edgemont, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Both teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Edgemont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. They will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Hay Springs at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Hay Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday.
