The Ripon Christian Knights will challenge the Weston Ranch Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Ripon Christian will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Ripon Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Orestimba 17-4 on Thursday. Considering the Knights have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Max Anderson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Crivello, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Ripon Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Weston Ranch made easy work of McNair on Friday and carried off an 11-2 win. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Anthony Arias and Jordan Paris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Arias tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Meanwhile, Paris pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Arias is becoming a predictor of Weston Ranch's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). At the plate, Arias went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Paris got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Paris a new career-high.
In other batting news, Gabriel Sandoval was excellent, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Nico Orona, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
The win got Weston Ranch back to even at 10-10. As for Ripon Christian, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ripon Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Weston Ranch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Ripon Christian couldn't quite finish off Weston Ranch in their previous meeting back in March and fell 7-5. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
