 In other batting news,  Chase Whiting was  excellent,  going 1-for-4 with one  home run and two  RBI. The dominant performance gave  him a new career-high in  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Noah Hufford, who  got on base  in two of his four plate appearances with two  RBI.
Lodi pushed their record up to 5-1 with the  victory, which was their fourth straight  on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Downey,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 1-6.
 Looking ahead, Lodi will take on Enochs at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average, (Enochs 3.5, Lodi 1.8) so any  runs scored will be well earned. As for Downey, they will face off against Manteca at 10:00  a.m.  on Wednesday. Manteca's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5  runs per game  this season, so Downey's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
