After a string of three wins, the El Rancho Dons 's's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost to Marshall on the road by a decisive 48-33 margin. El Rancho was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Marshall apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
El Rancho's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emery Riker, who scored 4 points along with 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. Riker has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Sofia Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 3 steals.
Destiny Ihiaso continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Marshall, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. Ihiaso continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jolynn Alibar, who scored 7 points.
El Rancho's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Marshall, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
El Rancho is on the road again on Thursday and play against Charter Oak at 8:00 p.m. on November 30th. As for Marshall, they will square off against Huntington Park at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Huntington Park is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
