Northwest Suburban recap November 5, 2013
Blaine was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after a bye. The Bengals came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 31 last week.
Maple Grove added to the longest winning streak in Northwest Suburban this week by beating Minnetonka, 14-9. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Crimson.
Andover's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Connor Wilkie threw for 197 and 3 touchdowns and Sam Steckman had 85 yards receiving. On the ground Derek McLaughlin contributed 203 yards. Chris Larson helped Andover's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 72 yards.
Kyle Anderson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Maple Grove bested the Skippers. The 5-foot-10 junior recorded 1 fumble.
He was 12-24 with 2 interceptions.
Wilkie put up the best numbers through the air as the Huskies bested Spring Lake Park. Wilkie's favorite target this week was Steckman, who caught 2 passes for 85 yards.
Andover's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Huskies feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Wilkie has thrown for 2,450 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, while Larson has 66 catches for 1,296 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Totino-Grace and Osseo. The Eagles comes into the matchup ranked fifth in the state, while the Orioles ranks second.
Tahi Nomane of the Matt Lombardi's team is only 14 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 127 carries Nomane has accumulated 986 yard this year.
Centennial lost to Eden Prairie 49-11 last week, the largest margin of any game.
