The St. Bernard Vikings will head out to face off against the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, St. Bernard turned things around against Serra on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Cavaliers.
Juan Sandoval spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lorenzo Davis, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of St. Bernard's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 3-1 (and 10-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Royce McKenzie, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Wiseburn- Da Vinci sidestepped Artesia for a 5-4 win.
David Holliday made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Nathan Buendia looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Jelani Bryant and Lyriq Jordan did most of the damage at the plate: Bryant got on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run, while Jordan went 1-for-3 with one home run. Those four stolen bases gave Bryant a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Xavier Horton, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Wiseburn- Da Vinci hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
St. Bernard now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
