The Lovett Lions's 20-10 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They lost to Walker on the road by a decisive 75-61 margin on Saturday. Lovett has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Lovett lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kingston Whitty. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points. The game was Whitty's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darrell Dickens iii, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds.
Walker was led to victory by Noah Pederson and Moustapha Diop. Pederson scored 23 points along with 5 rebounds, while Diop dropped a double-double on 23 points and 21 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Pederson has scored at least 25% of Walker's points. Erik Knapp was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Lovett now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Walker, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lovett is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Hampton at 7:30 p.m. on November 28th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Hampton is ranked 207th, while Lovett is ranked 222nd). As for Walker, they will head out on the road to face off against Business Engineering Science Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Business Engineering Science Tech is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
