DURHAM, N.C. -- USA Baseball and MaxPreps announced on Monday, the MaxPreps USA Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week Award winners for the week of April 11, 2016, bringing national recognition to the top-performing high school athletes in the country.

Representing eight national regions, -- Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest and West -- players are selected based upon stats that are submitted to MaxPreps.com by coaches and team administrators. For players to be nominated each week, their coach must enter the athlete's game stats into MaxPreps by Sunday evening. High school coaches may obtain an access code to enter stats for their teams at maxpreps.com/cl.

The winners for MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week Award are as follows:

Great Lakes
Pitcher of the Week: Connor McMurry struck out 13 batters in a victory for Summit Country Day School (Cincinnati, Ohio) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Great Lakes Pitcher of the Week award. McMurry, a junior, gave up zero runs, two hits, and one walk.
Player of the Week: Jake Vance went 7-for-7 with nine RBIs for Cincinnati Trailblazers Homeschool (Cincinnati, Ohio) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Great Lakes Player of the Week award. Vance, a senior, scored four runs and hit two home runs to slug 2.000 for the week.

Mid-Atlantic
Pitcher of the Week: Ian Edwards threw a complete-game shutout for Harford Christian School (Darlington, MD.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Mid-Atlantic Pitcher of the Week. Edwards, a senior, gave up just one hit, struck out seven, and surrendered just one walk in the victory.
Player of the Week: Tommy Pellis went 12-for-14 with nine runs scored for Greensburg Central Catholic High School (Greensburg, Pa.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Mid-Atlantic Player of the Week. Pellis, a senior, tallied eight RBIs and walked three times on the week.

Midwest
Pitcher of the Week: Kaleb Kauffman pitched six innings of scoreless baseball for Butler High School (Butler, Mo.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Midwest Pitcher of the Week. Kauffman, a junior, walked two batters and struck out 11.
Player of the Week: Cruz Aranda went a perfect 8-for-8 for Salina South High School (Salina, Kan.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Midwest Player of the Week. Aranda, a junior, finished the week with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Northeast
Pitcher of the Week: Reid Vanscoter threw a no-hitter for Livonia High School (Livonia, N.Y.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Northeast Pitcher of the Week award. Vanscoter, a junior, struck out 18 batters and gave up just one walk in the win.
Player of the Week: James Dolaghan hit two home runs and tallied 12 RBIs for Rutherford High School (Rutherford, N.J.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Player of the Week award. Dolaghan, a junior, went 7-for-8 with four runs scored and four walks for an on-base percentage of .786.

Northwest
Pitcher of the Week: Brennan Heitz threw six innings of no-hit baseball for Widefield High School (Colorado Springs, Colo.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Northwest Pitcher of the Week. Heitz, a sophomore, gave up just two walks and struck out 13 batters.
Player of the Week: Matt Berg hit .818 with nine RBIs for Thompson Valley High School (Loveland, Colo.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Northwest Player of the Week. Berg, a junior, went 9-for-11 with two home runs and six runs scored.

Southeast
Pitcher of the Week: Zachary Rodgers threw a no-hitter for Manatee High School (Bradenton, Fla.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Southeast Pitcher of the Week award. Rodgers, a junior, struck out 13 batters and gave up no walks.
Player of the Week: Alex Johnson hit .909 with 13 RBIs for Newton High School (Covington, Ga.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Southeast Player of the Week award. Johnson, a senior, hit two home runs, scored six runs, and finished the week with a 1.909 slugging percentage.

Southwest
Pitcher of the Week: Boyd Vanderkooi pitched a no-hitter for Skyline High School (Mesa, Ariz.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Southwest Pitcher of the Week. Vanderkooi, a junior, struck out eight batters and gave up just two walks.
Player of the Week: Ashton Atkinson hit .818 with 11 RBIs for Ash Fork High School (Ash Fork, Ariz.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Southwest Player of the Week. Atkinson, a senior, scored five runs, hit two home runs, and slugged 1.818 for the week.

West
Pitcher of the Week: Ethan Jones struck pitched five innings of no-hit baseball for Sonoma Academy (Santa Rosa, Calif.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps West Pitcher of the Week award. Jones, a senior, struck out nine batters and gave up three walks.
Player of the Week: Gavin Haimovitz hit .857 with two home runs for Dunn High School (Los Olivos, Calif.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps West Player of the Week award. Haimovitz, a sophomore, slugged 2.571, tallied four RBIs, and scored five runs.
