Point Arena is a perfect 3-0 against Victory Christian Academy since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Pirates will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Victory Christian Academy will be up against a hot Point Arena squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Pirates put the hurt on Potter Valley with a sharp 16-4 win on Friday. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Jose Bernal was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Point Arena is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Bernal was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Bernal is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Jimmy Owens was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for Point Arena: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Cody Chavez was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Point Arena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .387 or higher in three consecutive games.
Victory Christian Academy came out on top against Laytonville on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Eagles blew past the Warriors 13-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Brett Hernandez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Hernandez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Payton Gentry and Tyler Hadley did most of the damage at the plate: Gentry got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Hadley went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Hadley has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was David Mendoza, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Point Arena's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Victory Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
Point Arena took their win against Victory Christian Academy in their previous meeting on April 11th by a conclusive 8-1 score. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
