The Millikan Rams will take on the Cerritos Dons at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Millikan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Millikan's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Compton with a sharp 14-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.
Ian Taguiam and Ian Carmona dominated on the mound. Taguiam tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Carmona pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Carmona has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Ben Keisler was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Pack, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Millikan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Compton didn't got any hits.
Meanwhile, Cerritos had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Pioneers.
Nathan Burton and Jayce Aragon dominated on the mound. Burton tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Aragon pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Aragon a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dalton Chi, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. He has become a key player for Cerritos: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 7-9 otherwise.
Cerritos' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Millikan, their record now sits at 12-5.
Millikan took their victory against Cerritos in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
