The Franklin Knights had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 48-39 win over Slippery Rock on Saturday. Given Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Slippery Rock is ranked 506th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jennifer Blum, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Blum hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Boal, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Slippery Rock's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Romanovich, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. CJ Sabo was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Franklin's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-5. As for Slippery Rock, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will take on Maplewood at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Maplewood will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak. As for Slippery Rock, they will be playing at home against Wilmington at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
