Basketball Game Preview: Golden Sierra Grizzlies vs. Vacaville Christian Falcons

The Golden Sierra Grizzlies will challenge the Vacaville Christian Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vacaville Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Golden Sierra, who comes in off a win.

Golden Sierra is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 71-14 win over Highlands. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-11.

Golden Sierra's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carly Sherman, who posted 23 points along with five boards and five steals. Sherman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played. Scarlet Harvey was another key player, going 6 for 12 on her way to 14 points in addition to seven steals and five boards.

Golden Sierra smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, Vacaville Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 46-29 bruising from Woodland Christian. The Falcons were down 46-16 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

The win got Golden Sierra back to even at 5-5. As for Vacaville Christian, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-6.

Golden Sierra ended up a good deal behind Vacaville Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2024, losing 38-20. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Vacaville Christian's Elena Vizcay, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 14 points and seven steals. Now that Golden Sierra knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
