The Charleroi Cougars had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 54-45 win over Derry on Friday.
Charleroi was led to victory by Camryn Musser and Ella Sypolt. Musser scored 16 points, while Sypolt scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Riley Jones, who scored 8 points.
Charleroi's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Derry, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Charleroi will face off against Monessen at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Derry, they will take on Brashear at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Brashear focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
