Softball Recap: Macariyah Gibbs Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Brooks County

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Brantley County, Charlton County was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Brooks County Trojans get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Ella Privett made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.

In other batting news, Charlton County got a massive performance out of Macariyah Gibbs, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave Gibbs a new career-high. Jules Gowen was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Charlton County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Charlton County's record is now 12-10-1. As for Brooks County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

Charlton County will take on Irwin County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Irwin County will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Charlton County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brooks County, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-12 defeat against Echols County on the 25th.
