Wood scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 86-23 victory over Armijo. Given Wood's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 479th, while Armijo is ranked 1239th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalia Sanchez, who scored 29 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Sanchez hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Andrea Howard, who scored 21 points along with eight steals.
Vacaville posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Armijo 47-17 at home. With Vacaville ahead 30-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vacaville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maggie Lopez, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Collins, who scored ten points.
Wood now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Vacaville, their win bumped their record up to 4-11.
Wood beat Vacaville 53-44 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Collins, who scored 23 points. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Wood still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
