The Hayesville Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Murphy Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Hayesville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a 66-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Andrews. Hayesville has struggled against Andrews recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Murphy strolled past Cherokee with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 84-69. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Murphy.
Murphy can attribute much of their success to Xander Wachacha, who scored 23 points along with six assists and two steals, and Zach Skogen, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. Skogen is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Payne, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Hayesville dropped their record down to 11-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Murphy, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.
Hayesville couldn't quite finish off Murphy in their previous matchup back in January and fell 44-41. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Murphy's Dominick Rummler, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. Now that Hayesville knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
