Two dominant signal callers in Braxton Albritton and Smith Stringer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The West Marion Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Presbyterian Christian Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
West Marion had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 42-point drubbing they dealt St. Patrick on Friday. The Trojans blew past the Fighting Irish 49-7. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Fighting Irish recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Brandon Bullock went supernova, picking up 174 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Presbyterian Christian challenged Greene County on Friday. The Bobcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Wildcats 44-41. The Bobcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Stringer and Gage Stinson. Stringer had a great game and threw for 353 yards and five touchdowns. Meanwhile, Stinson was balling out in the loss, throwing for 160 yards and one TD while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punching in one rushing score.
Presbyterian Christian's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for West Marion, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. West Marion has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 164.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Presbyterian Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 167.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for West Marion against Presbyterian Christian in their previous matchup back in August of 2018, as the team secured a 36-7 win. In that matchup, the Trojans amassed a halftime lead of 22-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
