Softball Recap: Ponderosa Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Ponderosa was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Castle View on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Sabercats an 11-0 shutout. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered an 11-8 loss the last time these two teams met.

Campbell Trombley was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Sisk, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Ponderosa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Ponderosa is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Castle View, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ponderosa will square off against Legend at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Titans have now posted at least ten runs in their last eight contests. As for Castle View, they will challenge Chaparral at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something the Sabercats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
