The Corona Panthers lost against the King Wolves back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Corona fell 46-33 to King. While losing is never fun, Corona can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while King is ranked 94th).
Corona lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chinazaekpere Irechukwu, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Irechukwu continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Liaga, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Corona's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 15-9. As for King, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Corona will take on Santiago at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for King, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Norco at 7:00 p.m. Norco is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
