Masterman put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 67-25 win over MAST Charter II at home. Masterman has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season.
Leading Masterman to victory were Sophia Brunelli and Jocelyn Goldstein. Brunelli scored 18 points along with seven steals and five rebounds, while Goldstein scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Goldstein has scored at least a third of Masterman's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shahkzoda Ilhomova, who scored seven points.
Masterman's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. As for MAST Charter II, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Masterman will take on Overbrook at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Overbrook will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 490th, while Masterman is ranked 77th). MAST Charter II will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Philadelphia Academy Charter at 3:15 p.m. on January 26th.
