Grace Brown was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off 12 hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiana Villa, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Audrey Abernathy was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Rocky Mountain hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Ralston Valley came up short against Chatfield on Wednesday and fell 5-2. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
The win made it two in a row for Rocky Mountain and bumps their season record up to 10-12. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Ralston Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
Rocky Mountain suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Ralston Valley in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Lobos have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
