The Washington Huskies were the 60-37 winner over the College Park Falcons when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Washington took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of College Park.
When it comes to explaining why Washington lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Mikaela Dumagan. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Maia Bulnes was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
College Park was led to victory by Taylor Ochoa and Sabrina Strode. Ochoa scored 17 points along with eight rebounds, while Strode went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 0 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Strode has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyela Pete, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Washington's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3. As for College Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Washington will be playing in front of their home fans against Moreau Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Moreau Catholic is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. College Park won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Arroyo at 12:30 p.m. on January 6th. Arroyo is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
