Sharpsville has been on the road for two straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Rocky Grove Orioles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Thursday, Sharpsville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-52 to the Eagles. While losing is never fun, Sharpsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 448th, while the Eagles are ranked 175th).
Despite the defeat, Sharpsville had strong showings from Lily Palko, who scored 15 points, and Macie Steiner, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Rocky Grove's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their eighth straight defeat. They were beaten by Maplewood 47-12. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Rocky Grove has scored all season.
Sharpsville has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Rocky Grove, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
