It was a good run, but the West Point-Beemer Cadets unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were beaten by Pender 61-22. West Point-Beemer was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-12.
When it comes to explaining why West Point-Beemer lost, one person who can't be blamed is Allie Kaup. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Pender's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avery Wegner, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wegner has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Walsh, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
West Point-Beemer's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Pender, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 20-0.
West Point-Beemer's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. As for Pender, they will be playing at home against the Bluejays at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Guardian Angels Central Catholic is ranked 11th, while the Pendragons are ranked 13th).
