Adrian Gonzalez tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Jeremiah Silva was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Josiah Guerra was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
Orange Cove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Summit Charter Collegiate Academy hadn't done well against Orosi recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bears skirted past the Cardinals 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted against the Cardinals since April 5, 2018.

Gonzalez was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Gonzalez wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Stephen Mendez, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another was Brandon Baldwin, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Orange Cove has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-9-1.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Orange Cove has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. However, it's not like Summit Charter Collegiate Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
