The Sanger West Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 65-32 loss at the hands of Roosevelt. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sanger West in their matchups with the Rough Riders: they've now lost four in a row.
It was another big night for Nyleigh Gregory, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and five steals for Roosevelt. That makes it four consecutive games in which Gregory has scored at least a third of Roosevelt's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Sutherland, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Sanger West has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Roosevelt, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with that win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sanger West will take on the Highlanders at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Roosevelt, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Stallions at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Madera South will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 768th, while the Rough Riders are ranked 289th).
