Baseball Game Preview: Monterey Dores vs. St. Francis Sharks

The Monterey Dores are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against the St. Francis Sharks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Monterey made up a huge gap compared to their last game against St. Francis, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Monterey never let St. Francis get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Tuesday. The Dores' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Not much got past Luke Miramontes, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep St. Francis off the board. That's the fewest hits Miramontes has allowed since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Monterey let Patrick Adams and Evan Takehara run wild. Adams scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Takehara scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave Takehara a new career-high in runs. Aiden Velarde also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Monterey always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Francis and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Monterey, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
