Softball Game Preview: Mason City Mohawks vs. Waterloo East Trojans

Mason City is 9-1 against Waterloo East since June of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Mohawks will venture away from home to challenge the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Mason City has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mason City is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They came up short against St. Edmond, falling 18-3.

Meanwhile, Waterloo East fell victim to Ames and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Little Cyclones. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Trojans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Mason City's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Waterloo East, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-20.

Everything went Mason City's way against Waterloo East when the teams last played on June 9th, as Mason City made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mohawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
