After a string of eight wins, the Riverview Raiders's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They lost to Freeport on the road by a decisive 58-42 margin. Riverview lost against Freeport in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 55-36 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Riverview saw an underclassman step up: Isabel Chaparro scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Juliette Brun was another key contributor, scoring three points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Riverview's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Freeport, their victory bumped their record up to 2-7.
Riverview will head out on the road to face off against Jeannette at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Adriana Allison and Lola Abraham. As for Freeport, they will be playing at home against Derry at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
