Anna Jacobs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Ross, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Karlie Rutar, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
North Bend Central came out on top against Highway 91 on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Highway 91. The Tigers have beaten Highway 91 the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Highway 91 has come to flipping the script.
Like NEN, North Bend Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Emma Rangeloff. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Rangeloff was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Madilyn Reese was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Pyper Daugherty was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
North Bend Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
NEN's win bumped their record up to 16-9. As for North Bend Central, their victory bumped their record up to 11-14.
