The Mid-Buchanan Dragons will take on the West Platte Bluejays at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mid-Buchanan barely beat Maryville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dragons' pitchers stepped up to hand the Spoofhounds a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Dragons as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Paisley Meyer looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaelin Rudkin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lindy Eaton, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Mid-Buchanan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in nine consecutive contests.
West Platte came out on top against Plattsburg on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Bluejays put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 8-2 win. The Bluejays have beaten the Tigers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.
Sophie Grier made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Molly Cline was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Addy Hughes was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
West Platte's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Mid-Buchanan, their win bumped their record up to 18-6.
Mid-Buchanan was able to grind out a solid victory over West Platte in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 5-2. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluejays turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
