Desert is 0-10 against Bishop Union since May of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Scorpions will welcome the Broncos at 3:15 p.m. Desert has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Desert lost 11-2 to Kern Valley on Friday. The Scorpions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Desert saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Terndrup, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Erick Cordova, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Bishop Union entered their tilt with Rosamond on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over the Roadrunners. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Broncos have posted against the Roadrunners since May 20, 2021.
Bishop Union got a massive performance out of Brayden Leeson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Reuben Nicholson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Bishop Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rosamond only posted an OBP of .381.
Bishop Union's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.1 runs over those games. As for Desert, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Desert has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Bishop Union struggles in that department as they've averaged .529. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Desert might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Bishop Union in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Scorpions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
