The Bayfront Charter Sharks suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Saturday. They suffered a tough 58-33 loss at the hands of Otay Ranch. Bayfront Charter was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-12.
Otay Ranch found their leader in underclassman Kalina Sangalang, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Sangalang pulled down eight or more rebounds. Darlene Hill was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five steals.
Bayfront Charter's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-10. As for Otay Ranch, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
Bayfront Charter will head out on the road to take on Preuss UCSD at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Otay Ranch, Otay Ranch and Hoover will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jewel Parker and Anaya Carter.
