The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Madden Ruplin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cornerstone Prep Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-7 otherwise. Ruplin was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Ben Curry was a standout: he went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Owen Dichiara also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Cornerstone Prep Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, The King's Academy never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past Scholars Guild Academy 10-0. Considering the Knights have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Dominick Hopkins and Hayden Beasley did most of the damage at the plate: Hopkins scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while Beasley scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jimmy Anderson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
The King's Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. Cornerstone Prep Academy's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cornerstone Prep Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like The King's Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
